DISTRACTION

This piece is based on a photograph of me during an early morning surf-session at Mission Beach in San Diego, California. The rising sun bathed the clouds and water in a magical glow as soft peeling waves rolled in to say Welcome to this day!

But it was the setting moon that held my attention, dazzling in its round perfection, full and bright against the blue. I watched as it lowered in the horizon, its form fading by the second, disappearing in the haze.

Whispering words of gratitude, I shifted my gaze to the water, and felt the rhythm of the swell. I turned my board and began to paddle.
