HOMAGE TO VVG AND HIS STARRY NIGHT

This piece pays tribute to Vincent Van Gogh and the night sky he painted while seeking treatment at the Saint-Paul-de-Mausole asylum in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France.

My fascination with Starry Night lies in the soulful connection I have to Van Gogh’s love of moon and stars, ,and the color blue.

But it is more than that.

I spent sleepless night working on this piece, overcome by inexplicable urgency to capture the longing and ache of each brushstroke I imagine was his, my emotions haunted by Van Gogh’s desire for peace and understanding, acceptance and belonging, an intimate mirroring of my own.
